Wave power plant in Portugal

Portugal has been researching wave power plants as a source of renewable energy since the 80s. But until recently, no module has been robust or profitable enough to develop. Now a giant yellow buoy bobs off the coast of the country, which can generate up to 300 kilowatts of energy from wind and waves, no matter the weather conditions.

This programme by German channel ZDF is part of The European Collection, a joint initiative of European public media (ARD, ARTE, France Télévisions, SRG SSR and ZDF), coordinated by ARTE.
