Georges Bizet: Carmen

Salzburg Festival 2026

170 min

Available until 05/11/2026

In a new production from Salzburg, soprano Asmik Grigorian portrays Carmen as a complex, strong woman with a burning passion for freedom. Gabriela Carrizo, together with her company Peeping Tom and Jonathan Tetelman, stages a radically contemporary ‘Carmen’ as a disturbingly topical tale of femicide.

The most popular opera in the repertoire is performed at the Salzburg Festival with the Utopia Orchestra conducted by Teodor Currentzis.
