For years now, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has been blocking important decisions in Brussels, particularly on financial aid for Ukraine. In his own country, he has ruled with an iron grip, eroding media freedom and judicial independence and undermining the rights of minorities. The EU has already frozen funding destined for Hungary, without much effect. These elections could now reset relations with the rest of Europe.
