All children in France must attend school, but the right to housing depends on the administrative status of their parents. In major cities, private flats have become inaccessible for the most families of modest means. But demand for social housing supply outstrips supply: in the Parisian region, the waiting period is at least two years, and there's a shortage of two million social housing units. Children find themselves without a fixed abode. To assist them, teachers are taking action: in Lyon, a collective has found shelter for 450 students.
