Under the theme of ‘Mediterranean Crossing’, the 2024 edition of the world music festival will focus on the musical cross-fertilisation of the Mediterranean sphere, a unique cultural space linking Europe, Asia and Africa. It's a colourful journey through artists with a wide range of influences.

High-tech fusion witchcraft: the heart of Baiuca beats to the rhythm of the ancestral traditions of their native Galicia. This group's inspiration comes from centuries-old songs and poems: The perfect substrate for an avant-garde fusion, an unbridled mix of samples of traditional tunes and music with a few everyday objects thrown in for good measure.

Michal Elia Kamal and her group Light in Babylon are regulars at major world music festivals. The Istanbul-based musician happily blends Iranian sounds with Sephardic melodies. Whether it's Hebrew, Turkish, Farsi or Arabic, all languages are given equal footing here. A welcome ray of hope at a time when the clouds are gathering over the Middle East.

Argentina's La Delio Valdez will be getting festival-goers up and dancing for the opening night of the 47th Bardentreffen. Playing an explosive fusion of cumbia, Andean music, salsa, ska and reggae, this Buenos Aires-based group leaves no one indifferent: It's simply impossible to stay still when exposed to their unique combination of acoustic and electric instruments. A rich sound matched with infectious rhythms.

Florence Adooni is the star of Ghana's frafra scene. The singer hails from Kumasi, the cradle of Ghanaian gospel music. She's taken the genre out of churches and onto the dancefloor. In terms of sounds and arrangements, her group blends West African influences with pop, rock and jazz. When high priestess Florence Adooni officiates, an entire congregation of the faithful rejoices and dances!

What started as a light-hearted idea launched during the pandemic ended up a big hit the following summer. Whenever the Crucchi Gang cover German classics in an Italo-pop style with a strong 70s and 80s flavour, you're in for a no-holds-barred evening. And don't be fooled, the recipe is contagious: the likes of Sophie Hunger and Clueso have all succumbed and have contributed to the gang's songs.

The Crucchi Gang don't take themselves too seriously, and it works! Their recipe: German pop sung in... Italian!
