The Most Beautiful Piano Concertos from Across Europe

487 min

Available until 21/06/2027

Join us on an inspiring journey across Europe and through the central repertoire of the piano concerto. On 21 June 2026 we travel from city to city where leading international pianists play some of the most beautiful piano concertos accompanied by renowned orchestras led by acclaimed conductors.

The piano concerto evening kicks off at the Wiener Konzerthaus, where Yulianna Avdeeva performs Johannes Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor together with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra conducted by Petr Popelka. The work marks a key moment between classical form and romantic expressivity.

Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor with Nobuyuki Tsujii and the Orchestre de Paris under Klaus Mäkelä comes next from the Philharmonie de Paris, combining Nordic tonal colours with virtuosic brilliance.

In Poznań, Frédéric Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor is on the programme, played by Alim Beisembayev with the Filharmonia Poznańska under Łukasz Borowicz.

Up next the Konserthuset Stockholm presents Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor with Eric Lu and the Kungliga Filharmonikerna under Ryan Bancroft - a transitional work for the famous composer.

Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto for the Left Hand in D major with Anna Vinnitskaya and the Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg under Aziz Shokhakimov is heard next from Strasbourg, before the open-air concert from Valencia concludes the first half: Mao Fujita plays Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major with the Orquesta de Valencia under Alexander Liebreich.

In the second half of the concert, europiano takes the audience to even more striking European locations - from historic open-air venues to concert halls steeped in tradition.

In Athens, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 in E flat major ("Emperor") with Lukas Sternath and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen under Constantinos Carydis is to be performed on Pnyx Hill with a view of the Acropolis.

In Hamburg's Laeiszhalle, superstar pianist Martha Argerich performs Beethoven's Piano Concerto No; 1 in C Major with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sylvain Cambreling.

Another open-air concert follows from Lisbon at the Torre de Belém with Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in B flat minor, performed by Bruce Liu with the Orquestra Gulbenkian conducted by Hannu Lintu.

Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor at the Wiesbaden Kurhaus in Germany, performed by Hayato Sumino with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alain Altinoglu.

Kyiv finishes off the day with the Slavonic Concerto for piano and orchestra by Borys Lyatoshynsky, a central figure of 20th-century Ukrainian music. The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine and members of the Kyiv Camerata are conducted by Ukrainian-Canadian conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson with the young Ukrainian pianist Maksym Shadko as soloist.
