Five years ago in the in the Cabo Delgado region of northern Mozambique, jihadist violence broke out. One areas of the poorest in the country, its people already had enough to deal with, but things have gone from bad to worse. Islamist militias such as Al-Shabab, an offshoot of the Islamic State, have driven 800,000 people out of their villages and towns.
