Spain is taking the lead in post-Covid recovery in Europe. While Germany and France, usually the European Union's top performers, are teetering dangerously close to recession, the Spanish economy saw growth of 2.5% in 2023 – five times higher than the eurozone average. Tourist numbers are booming, with a new hotel opening every four days, and unemployment is at its lowest since 2008.
